Yamata industrial machines, sold by somebody who fixes them
I'm Martin. I've been an engineer since I was sixteen, chief engineer at Maynells of Middlesbrough on Bernina, Brother and Juki industrials. We sold Yamata there too, so I've had these machines apart for years. Now I'm bringing them to the North East properly.
The trade moved east. China makes the machines now, and most of what lands here is built to a price.
Yamata is the exception. It's the premium end — the tolerances the German machines used to hold.

Machines by type
Pick the job first and the machine second. Guide prices are indicative; the real figure comes by quote, delivered and set up.
Lockstitch
2The backbone of any workroom. Straight stitch, flat bed, fast and accurate. If you only ever have one industrial, it's one of these.
Walking foot & heavy duty
12Compound and triple feed. The top and bottom move the work together, so thick layers, leather and coated cloth go through straight instead of shifting.
Overlock & safety stitch
1Sergers for knits and wovens. Trim, seam and finish the edge in one pass, at a speed no domestic overlocker will live with.
Coverstitch & chainstitch
4Coverstitch for knit hems and sportswear. Chainstitch for the heavy end — bags, tarpaulins, denim, anything that must not let go.
Post bed & cylinder arm
4When the work will not lie flat. Post beds and cylinder arms get the needle inside boots, bags and tight corners.
Buttonhole & bartack
2Dedicated machines that do one job properly. Clean buttonholes, and bartacks that hold belt loops and pocket mouths together.
Zig-zag
3Industrial zig-zag for webbing, sailcloth, bag work and decorative stitching. A different machine entirely from a domestic swing needle.
Blindstitch
1Alteration and tailoring work. Trousers, skirts, curtains — hemmed with nothing showing on the face of the cloth.
Embroidery
4Computerised embroidery heads for logo work, workwear and decoration. Set up, digitised and shown to you in person.
